How does Green Office work?
Green Office simply shuts down all networked computers that should be powered down after a specific time.
The key is to be as resolute as possible in shutting down computers but also be as flexible as necessary for any business need to keep a computer powered on, and all in a way that it doesn’t generate extra work for you IT department.
Green Office has been designed to give any employee the ability to remove him/herself from the daily shutdown routine for the day.
If an employee has to work past normal office hours, or if a job has been scheduled to run overnight, it is possible to disable the shutdown in these cases.
For a user to disable the shutdown they simply have to start the green office tool in their start menu. Here, they can exclude themselves for one day. A five-minute countdown before system shutdown will occur, enabling users to cancel the shutdown in case they forgot to exclude themselves using the start menu tool.
To measure is to know
Green Office generates a daily report of the exact amount of computers which have been shut down after office hours.
Green Office knows exactly which computers have been shutdown and at what time they are booted up again the next day.
The amount of hours between the shutdown and boot up, multiplied by the energy costs of a computer, equals the actual cost saving. Green Office can therefore generate an exact report on what has been saved in overhead costs and also in Carbon Dioxide emissions.
This is why Green Office is one of the few solutions in the market which companies can utilize to increase their environmentally friendly image but also save on overhead costs!
